Dinner Topic:
Technical expertise may build credibility in cybersecurity, but succeeding as a CISO requires much more. Even experienced security leaders can fall back on technical instincts, language, and assumptions that limit their effectiveness with executives, boards, and the broader business.
At the Boston CISO Dinner, Astrid Lambert, CISO of Cambridge Health Alliance, will challenge CISOs to examine where they may still have room to grow as enterprise leaders. Drawing on her own experiences communicating with the board, Astrid will explore how CISOs can better translate security into business context, strengthen their influence across the organization, and draw clearer boundaries between advising on cyber risk and ultimately owning it.
Discussion Takeaways
- Evolving as an enterprise leader: Recognizing where technical instincts and habits may still limit leadership effectiveness
- Translating security into business context: Communicating risk in ways that resonate with executives, boards, and other stakeholders
- Influence versus ownership: Strengthening the CISO’s role as a trusted advisor while establishing clear boundaries around who ultimately owns business risk
