Ron Gula is a cybersecurity pioneer, entrepreneur, and investor, best known as the co-founder and former CEO of Tenable Network Security (NASDAQ: TENB), which grew under his leadership from 2002 to 2016 into a global leader with over 20,000 customers, $300 million in venture capital, and $100 million in annual revenue—culminating in a $3 billion IPO in 2018. He began his career as a network penetration tester for the National Security Agency (NSA) and developed Dragon, one of the first commercial intrusion detection systems. As President of Gula Tech Adventures, Ron now invests in and advises dozens of cybersecurity startups and nonprofits, including Huntress Labs, Scythe, and Cybrary, while championing cyber policy and workforce development.
Recognized as a visionary leader, Ron was inducted into the Cybersecurity Hall of Fame (2023), received a SANS Lifetime Achievement Award, was named a Visionary Cybersecurity Investor at the 2025 Global Infosec Awards, and was honored with the ICIT Pioneer Award f(2026) for his lifetime commitment to strengthening national security and critical infrastructure.
