Lt. Gen. O'Brien retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2023 after 34 years of service, having led organizations of tens of thousands of military and civilian professionals responsible for intelligence collection, cyber operations, and the technology systems that underpin national security. Her final assignment was as Joint Staff Director of C4/Cyber and CIO J6, where she oversaw communications and cybersecurity capabilities across the Joint Force. She previously served as Director of Intelligence at U.S. Cyber Command and as Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance and Cyber Effects Operations, accountable for a multi-billion-dollar portfolio.
